A Bit About Me...
Ella Merkel is a senior undergraduate Graphic Design major at the University of Tennessee. My process continuously has been embedded within the visual and verbal development of narrative, environmental design, development of patterns, print production, and photography.

My process revolves predominately around handmaking or the retreaval of elements. Systems fully relient on digital make-up often feel disconnected and sterile If appeal and impact are a desired outcome of design, there should be a connective relation to
non-digitized processes.
Throughout my work, I have found continuous fascination with humanity and nature; whether that is using images from nature, manually tearing up pieces of paper, voicing human pain, engaging community involvement with local businesses, or looking at behavior. Reframing the world to position onself to see the relationship between subjects allows for details to be noticed, and beauty to be highlighted.
